Ahh, live music.

There was plenty of live music wafting through the streets of downtown Kent yesterday afternoon and evening as The Kent Blues Festival returned.

Thousands of music fans made their way to several bars, clubs and outdoor venues to listen to some outstanding music performed by area musicians.  From traditional blues, to more rockin' blues to cover bands to the legendary Numbers Band, there was something for everyone at this free event.

With the newly created Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA), music fans were able to enjoy their adult beverages as they walked from venue to venue or sat at the recently installed picnic tables and benches along Franklin Avenue.

When you attend an event like this, you never know when you might hear something that really strikes a chord with you.  That happened to me when I heard three young guys playing some Stevie Ray Vaughan influenced blues.  They are called Among The Willows and these young men can rock.  They were the standout act of the day.

Overall, it was a fantastic event and I look forward to attending next year and hopefully come across another new band to add to my playlist.
